LOCATION AND CLIMATE
Drasnice (Central Dalmatia, Croatia) is a settlement located around 10 km south from Makarska, in Croatian region Central Dalmatia. Drasnice has around 900 inhabitants. They are mostly directed to agriculture, vine and olive growing, fishing and tourism.
Climate is Mediterranean with mild winters and hot summers. Drasnice is located between the sea and mountain Biokovo. Across Drasnice is island Hvar.
HISTORY
Drasnice was first time mentioned at the end of 15th century in Turkish documents, but it has been inhabitated since long long time ago. During Roman times it was peace and after the collapse of Roman Empire, barbarians ruined it. Since 1962., when the Adriatic road was built, more and more people moved to the coast and tourism has been developing since then.

Tourism has started to developing since 1962., when Adriatic road was built, after the big earthquake. Drasnice has many remains and rich historical heritage, as well as the settlements arount it. You can visit nearby places, Makarska, island Hvar... Natural attraction in Drasnice is cave Medvidine, which is known as the last residence of Mediterranean monk seal.
